In 1966 Cliff Harmon celebrated 50 years of painting in the art colony of Taos, New Mexico with retrospective
exhibits at theVan Vechten-Lineberry museum and the Stables Gallery as well as a show of new work titled "Magic Easels".
at theTotal Art Gallery. Emil Bisttram described his "Earth Forms" paintings as establishing Cliff as the formost colorist
in Modern landscape painting in the Southwest. He is best known for the rich luminosity of his colors. Over the years,
his paintings have been exhibited throughout the country and abroad. Continuing to incorporate the design and color
precepts of Joseph Albers and the Bauhaus School, which he studied at Black Mountain College. His latest series
of landscapes and figure paintings present the unique concepts that have been the hallmark of his work. |
